- Belgian Study of 3600 people with normal blood pressure, followed for 7.9 years - Those who ate less salt were the most likely to die from heart disease.
- Study found that after 13 to 60 months of salt restriction, the average drop in systolic (top number) blood pressure was 1.1 mmHg (millimeters of mercury).
- Reducing sodium (salt intake) causes insulin resistance and promotes diabetes. In fact, recent studies have found that sodium significantly improves insulin function.
- Our ancestors used to cure meat in salt, yet diabetes and heart disease were unheard of.
